Glossary
Depot
An account for holding and managing securities at a bank or broker. It allows investors to securely hold and trade their stocks, bonds, ETFs, and other securities.
Trade
The buying or selling of securities such as stocks, bonds, ETFs, or other financial instruments in a market or on an exchange.
Action
An act or transaction in the financial market, such as buying or selling securities.
Position
The holdings of a particular security or financial instrument in a portfolio. A position can be either 'long' (a purchase) or 'short' (a sale).
Stop-Loss
An order placed to limit a loss by automatically selling a security when it reaches a certain price.
Buy Limit
An order to buy a security at a specific price or lower. This order is only executed if the market price reaches or falls below the limit.
Position Size
The quantity of a particular security or financial instrument held in a portfolio.
Stock
A security that represents an ownership share in a company's equity. Stockholders are thus co-owners of the company.
ETF (Exchange-Traded Fund)
An exchange-traded fund that tracks an index, a commodity, bonds, or a collection of assets like an index fund, but is traded on an exchange like a stock.
Crypto (Cryptocurrency)
Short for cryptocurrency, a digital or virtual currency that uses cryptography for security. It is decentralized and often based on blockchain technology.
Certificate
A financial instrument issued by banks that allows investors to participate in the performance of an underlying asset (such as stocks, indices, or commodities) without owning it directly.
Leverage
A financial tool that allows investors to trade with an amount exceeding their actual stake to multiply potential profits (but also losses).
Fund
A pool of funds collected from many investors to collectively invest in securities such as stocks, bonds, money market instruments, and other assets.
